Angel’s fave gig photos from 2016 so far

Exam season is approaching and (as much as I hate to admit it) not attending anymore gigs until that period is over is ultimately the wisest decision. We all want to be risk takers, but when it comes to this I have to resist my inner daredevil and become a boring prude, yay. I do have Truck and Reading festivals to look forward to in the summer. Despite this sad occurrence, I must look back on 2016 so far with positive nostalgia, as I have been to some pretty incredible gigs this year! I’ll stop talking and share with you my favourite music events and photos I have attended in the first half of 2016:

1) Cage The Elephant 13/02/16

I am so glad my best friend Lucy took shit tonnes of photos at the start of Cage’s set because I managed to get kicked in the back of the head and completely passed out- unresponsive, eyes rolling back and everything- on only their fourth song. Having barrier was great, the atmosphere was incredible and support act Chrome Pony were a joy to watch.

2) Coasts 26/02/16

Coasts at Roundhouse’s main space was amazing! Support acts Dead! and Silent Company were good, but I wouldn’t say Dead! are my kind of sound.

3) The Hunna 03/03/16

I didn’t manage to get a lot of photos for this one unfortunately.

4) The Magic Gang 18/01/16

Roundhouse Rising Festival has got to be one of gig highlights, there was such amazing vibes and I got to see one of my favourite bands for the first time.

5) Wolf Alice 29/03/16

This gig was a stand out moment for me. Support acts Bloody Knees and Swim Deep were insane, and Wold Alice were an absolute dream.

6) High Tyde 07/04/16

After interviewing the band, High Tyde put on an incredible performance at Dingwalls.

7) Catfish and the Bottlemen 18/04/16

The exhilaration from getting standing tickets just moments before the gig only added to the amazing atmosphere at The Forum Kentish Town. Support act Black Honey were also very incredible.

8) The Magic Gang 16/04/16

Seeing these boys again was an absolute treat. Both supports were great also (31 Hours and VITAMIN) and interviewing VITAMIN before the gig was a great experience.

Overall, 2016 has been a pretty fantastic year where music is concerned, and it can only get better with the festival season approaching and many more gigs to attend in the autumn.
