Keep your eyes peeled for The Recreation!

Chances are you haven’t heard of The Recreation… But you’ll be gutted on what you’ve been missing out on!

This indie-rock 4 piece from Manchester have been together for over a year now. With 2 officially released songs under their belt; Owen, Tom, Sam, and George have decided it’s about time to release their first EP, due in October.

The Flowery Bucket Hat EP’s tracklist is as follows:

  1. Cadillac
  2. The Gateway
  3. Tonight
  4. TAXI

Of their released material, ‘You’ has got to be my favourite. This tune has been an essential for me this year and honestly, is up there with some of my favourite songs of the summer. ‘Sofa’ is a slightly heavier song but perfect to play live, according to the band.

Owen’s vocals fit perfectly with Tom’s up-tempo guitar playing, George’s clever drumming, and Sam’s brilliant bass riffs. Both of the songs are quite similar sounding, however they both boast unique qualities in terms of lyrics and also the formation of the song.

They have played gigs in and around Manchester. Their biggest gig to date has been supporting Noasis at Ruby Lounge last year to a crowd of a few hundred people. However, their favourite gig was AATMA which they played last week. This holds a special place in their hearts as it was their own show and they crowd knew their tunes! What a feeling!!!

Back in January, BBC introducing played a few of their tracks on radio and compared them to a young ‘The Strokes’. The band were obviously delighted by this!

I have included a link to their Spotify below and I highly recommend you go and listen to them!
