It’s that time of year. All the big newspapers and music websites release their predicted breakthroughs for 2017. After inspecting the majority of these lists it’s fair to say The Amazons don’t stray far from many, and the Reading bands popularity will only have increased after new single ‘Little Something’ was Annie Mac’s hottest record last night.
Speaking to Annie Mac, the band emphasised that the new single is the heaviest they’ve experimented on the first album set to be released next year.
Its fair to say the Reading rockers have created a much more eary sounding track this time round, almost verging into the punk cateory at times. However the hook, which has been the key to making successful tracks in the past is dominant in ‘Little Something’ which adds to the structure and content in the single.
There’s also deliberately very little refinement on the single, with a raucous drum beat in the latter part of the tune and guitar riffs dotted throughout which gives the track a refreshingly raw feel.
It’s easy to see why people are predicting a big year for The Amazons, the new track is yet another big number on what will be a very attractive looking set list, I am for one intrigued to see The Amazons next year.
