King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard have teased us of whats to come in 2017 from the band. After releasing first single ‘Rattlesnake’ for the upcoming album ‘Flying Microtonal Banana’, the band have now shared the hypnotic ‘Nuclear Fusion’.
One of the much more slower tracks on King Gizzards discography, Nuclear Fusion is a hypnotic 4 minute 15 second belter. The distorted vocals, and swaying guitars portray the possibility of what we can expect from the Aussie psychediclic outfit.
The distorted vocals at the beginning and end of the track point toward a sense of being under a pell or someone else control. Steadily travelling through the track you are transported into a microtonal world of psych beats and rhythmic drums pulsating throughout the track.
When listening to the song, the wind instruments create an image of a rattlesnake charmer, which is what we see on the album cover for their upcoming 8th album. The cover depicts a gas masked individual playing a guitar which is plugged into a barrel of nuclear waste, with a Rattlesnake appearing from the top.
It makes sense. The randomness of the cover has all become much clear with the addition of ‘Nuclear Fusion’. If this hypnotic and eery style from King Gizzard and co continues, then we all may succumb to their powers.
Flying Microtonal Banana is released on 24th February via Heavenly Recordings.
