Flowvers are a new three- piece indie band from Portsmouth. The band consists of Matisse Moretti on vocals and guitar, Henry Wood on bass and Stanley Powell on lead guitar.
The band don’t actually have any officially finished music out yet (stay tuned) but they do have a demo of ‘Fresh Air’ out on their Facebook page:
Now, the fact that their lead guitarist is wearing a ratboy shirt may be enough to make you run (I thought the same). I urge you to give them a chance because I was pleasantly surprised and I think this band have potential. The video is quite shabby and low quality but it’s a demo so they’re forgiven, it also looks kind of artistic and alternative.
Sometimes it can be quite hard to function with the absence of a drummer but Flowvers show no signs of a need for one. The guitars, despite being electric and acoustic, create contrast yet compliment each other at the same time, although the bass is a bit lost in this version. The song features an unusual guitar solo, that reminds me vaguely of The La’s but at the same time upholds it’s own unique sound.
These guys are still students so I can appreciate how hard it is to write and record in between exams although I’ve been told that the official track will be coming our way soon, so keep updated and show some support by following their social media pages:
