Sundara Karma play their first live lounge

Sundara Karma have been on a rollercoaster of success the past few years and that shows no sign of slowing down. With their brilliant new album ‘Youth Is Only Ever Fun In Retrospect’ (read our review here: https://letithappenmusicblog.com/2017/01/09/sundara-karma-youth-is-only-ever-fun-in-retrospect-review/becoming a week old tomorrow.

Today, they performed in their first ever Radio 1 Live Lounge, out of many, I’m sure. They played two songs, their latest single ‘Flame’ and Bruno Mars’ ’24K Magic’.

‘Flame’ sounds very funky live. The song is basically made by Ally who features on the song not playing his usual guitar but a cow bell. Oscar’s distortion and fx sounds really adds a new life to the song too.

They then covered Bruno Mars- ’24K Magic’. If you had just tuned into Radio 1, you would definitely not recognise the song. Sundara Karma have completely twisted it around and owned it. Clara Amfo described it as “deliciously dark” and I think there is many of us that would agree.

You can catch up on the Live Lounge session here : http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1 I also highly recommend that you get tickets to see them on their headline tour starting on the 11th of February at Birmingham’s The Rainbow.
