“It’s DIY or DIE” – Hull-punks LIFE premier ‘no-nonsense, abrasive’ new single over on Dork.

Angsty Hull indie-punk four-piece LIFE, fronted by self-confessed pop-culture addicts, brothers Mez and Mick, have been bringing their punchy guitar licks and gritty DIY attitude to the scene for a little over a year now. Their everyday inspirations are rooted deep in their city’s grotty underground, and as they’d probably admit, they’re Hull through and through (refer to “King Charles tried to take control of Hull, but we told him to fuck off”). Whether it’s about getting sloshed and listening to chart-pop on ‘Popular Music’, or Mez’s fondness of ‘Rare Boots’, you won’t find anything this grounded around anywhere.

Touring with fellow political-realists VANT and most recently with garage-punk sensations Slaves has brought newfound fans and precious airtime from the likes of Steve Lamacq and Zane Lowe, whilst they’ve made a considerable splash in the urban festival scene, including at Live At Leeds, and their very own Freedom Festival.

And now, the quartet have upped-the-ante, premiering their latest charged single, ‘Euromillions’ over on Dork. Let me get this straight, this is no-nonsense, abrasive DIY punk at its finest, challenging literally everything from racism, violence, the right wing, capitalism and of course, Donald Trump.

‘Euromillions’ slithers along with a grubby FWF-esque bassline, led by pleading yells of “I know my rights”, amongst more inaudible screams, but beneath the raucous exterior, the message stands. “This is the reality TV show that you can’t turn off. This is LIFE. There is no ‘free’ world”,  Declare the band…talk about sinister.

The four punks discussed the track in a recent interview with So Young Magazine – “[It’s] going on the debut album; it’s about Big Bob of little England, dragon slayers and Bulldogs. It’s about Fat Bill of white America, Redneck Racists and Eagles…”. If that doesn’t convince you to listen, then I can’t help you…
