“I AM NOT MY BODY; I AM SOMEBODY”
Dream Wife provided the soundtrack for International Women’s Day when they dropped their gloriously empowering new single ‘Somebody’, which they’ve aptly described as “a ballad for women”.
“The song explores the experience of living in a female body within our society. It’s a conversation on the reclamation of bodies by the women who occupy them in a tender, yet direct and empowering way.”
Rakel Mjöll’s slinky vocals deliver this message with an assertive yet touching grace, while Bella Podpadec’s rumbling basslines and Alice Go’s brilliantly scrappy guitar licks add extra attitude to the punch. The track sways with empathy, yet has an underlying bite to it, proving Dream Wife to be the perfect sisterly protectors for girls everywhere.
Dream Wife are an absolute treat live; be sure to catch them at one of their many UK tour dates.
