Rejoice, the future of indie rock is upon us! CAMENS, a northern quartet that epitomise feel-good lyrics and laid-back anthems, lively enough to bring out the sun on the rainiest of days.
Formerly LazyEye, this upbeat indie rock band is made up of Luke Brightmore, Scott Powell, James Corbishley and Josh Egan and they are an embodiment of the new wave of 00’s alternative music. The golden era of indie has been embedded into their work – releases such as ‘Boys Will Stray’ and ‘Redolence’ have showcased their potential to thrive and flourish throughout the years. The pulsating drums and harmonising hooks give melodic vibes a la The Wombats and Circa Waves.
Last year the Weezer-esque outfit had a hectic summer, playing amazing festivals left, right, and centre across the UK, such as Boardmasters, Latitude and Green Man and reigning in the masses on the way. Signed to Ugly Man Records, who launched the careers of iconic bands such as Elbow, I Am Kloot and Vinny Peculiar, there is no doubt CAMENS have bright things ahead of them.
This year promises to be a breakthrough for CAMENS; they recently released ‘Violent Video Games’, with a music video that radiates nostalgia, inspired by the classic Street Fighter franchise. The music video parallels the vibrant vocals and head bopping guitar riffs which make you want to fast forward to August and sing along to the single under the sun.
