We’ve all come to know and love Clairo since her track Pretty Girl went viral late last year, (gaining over 10 million views on YouTube) and since then we’ve seen her making friends with the members of Brockhampton, Chance The Rapper and Dua Lipa to name a few, along with playing some of her first live shows on tour with Dua Lipa and creating a music video for her older song Flaming Hot Cheetos.
The artist has been pretty quiet musically since blowing up, aside from a cover of Brockhampton’s track Waste from their Saturation trilogy there hasn’t been much going on with the 19 year old creative, however, fans have been promised that an ep is dropping next month titled Diary 001.
Today Clairo unveiled a new single, 4ever, that’ll be appearing on the upcoming ep along with a warm, uplifting music video filled to the brim with good vibes, the track itself features Clairo singing melancholy over a wave of subtle synths and funk fuelled beats, carried by these almost trademark soft sounding drums, creating an atmosphere that in a way conflicts with the music video itself, however, it’s DIY tour diary style makes up for the off-balance mix. With lyrics mentioning a sense of hopeless love weaving in between rhetorical themes common with Clairo’s musical idiom, 4ever is an instant classic in her discography, a “bop” that really sums up the artist and their incredible talent.
