I never got round to seeing Epsom’s Chalet Noir before they called it a day, but two of its members in drummer Tim Murphy and guitarist and vocalist Jay Franks have got together a bunch of talented musicians for their new group Foreign TV with “Foreign TV” their eponymous debut single. I wasted no time when I saw they were playing a headline gig at Camden Assembly to head on over and check them out. Notwithstanding Jay sporting a broken arm, it was an accomplished show from a tight well-practised group, very much in the mould of Rex Orange County.

“Foreign TV” sees the band in laid-back, slacker mode but there’s a lot more to them than this side. And the track is a veritable earworm as in the few weeks since the gig I’ve unconsciously been humming it without realising – it just comes again and again. If you’re anywhere near London on 7 October it’s well worth lending them some of your time as the band head back to the Camden Assembly for day 2 of Head Above The Clouds Festival.
