White Riot – ‘Sid’ single review

Welsh indie-punk trio White Riot release their debut single ‘Sid’. Drawing its inspiration from none other than punk icon Sid Vicious and his tempestuous relationship with Nancy Spungen, the rough edges to ‘Sid’ are what gives it its sincerity. It’s a track reminiscent of every shade of Britpop glory: vocals loaded with Gallagher-style conviction and rollicking guitar riffs recalling The Libertines. The stark lyrics say what they mean, almost as if White Riot are channeling the desperate thoughts of the Sex Pistol himself. There is no doubt that when White Riot perform in Swansea’s biggest venue Sin City, this track will be a live wire.
