VIVID is the debut release from South London based indie four piece CALM. The track has made an immediate impact, picking up radio plays on BBC Introducing and Amazing Radio, as well as featuring as one of Freshonthenet’s Faves.

Self recorded, produced and released the band are unashamedly proud of their 90s indie influences. And whilst they cite the Britpop period as influences to me the track resonates with a slightly earlier period, very much in the mold of “Can You Dig It?” from Manchester’s underrated legends The Mock Turtles.

It’s an instantly catchy track that takes on the universal theme of the challenges of growing up – “I was only young for a heartbeat” – fitting as the band hit their early twenties. The video has a distinct 90s indie feel too and in singer Adam James the band seem to have found a frontman to articulate their collective mood. A debut that promises much more to follow.
